**Please NOTE as of July 26, 2017

We are so grateful to our volunteers who provide so much assistance, help in every area of the shelter, and are part of our BAHS shelter team.  At this time, we have a backlog of people wanting to volunteer, so we are going to temporarily suspend training and orientation sessions until our current roster of volunteers have been through the program.

If you would like to complete an application at this time, please know that we so appreciate your support.  We will begin to process and bring new applicants in again in October.

Bay Area Humane Society is always looking for dedicated volunteers

Volunteers help provide better lives for each and every single animal that comes through our doors. There are many different ways you can help out and not all of them have to be animal handling. We really do have something for everyone and we need your help!

Due to the amount of training we require for our volunteer positions, we ask for a 6 month commitment of 2-3 hours each week. Children ages 10-17 may volunteer with a parent or guardian. Children ages 10-11 cannot interact with the animals.

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to fill out a Volunteer Application. It may take up to 7 days for your application to be approved. Once your application is approved, the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you with details about the Orientation.

All new volunteers will be required to attend a Volunteer Orientation and purchase a Volunteer T-shirt ($10) to wear while volunteering.
